TPC Deere Run

🌄 Course Overview & Design

  • Par‑71 layout, stretching ~7,258 yards from the tips, with a slope around 145—it’s demanding, yet fair, emphasizing strategy and shot precision.

  • Designed by former PGA pro D.A. Weibring (2000) in collaboration with PGA Tour Design Services, weaving the course through rolling, tree-lined terrain beside the Rock River.

  • Built atop a historic Arabian horse farm, preserving natural standing, bunkers, elevation changes, and even some links-style holes.

⛳ Signature Holes & Course Features

  • Hole 16 ("Mother Earth"): A standout 153‑yard par‑3 along the river, guarded by bunkers, known for its beauty and challenge.

  • Opening/closing stretches: Begin with an uphill, bunkered par-4 and conclude with back-to-back scoring opportunities: a 550-yard par-5 then the demanding 17th.

  • Features deep rough, narrow greens, and strategic doglegs—demanding precise iron play and controlled approaches.

🏆 PGA Tour Heritage – John Deere Classic

  • Hosts the John Deere Classic annually in early July, typically the week before The Open Championship; on-site since 2000 .

  • A tournament known for low scoring—winners often finish around −20 under par, favoring accurate approach shots and strong putting .

  • Paul Goydos and Hayden Springer each shot a historic 59 here (2010, 2024) – showcasing the scoring potential for hot rounds.

  • Course has raised tens of millions for charity and continues as John Deere Classic title sponsor through 2030.

🎥 Watching & Getting There

  • Located at 3100 Heather Knoll, Silvis, IL, about a 2-hour drive from Chicago.
