Delta plane crash in Toronto

 

On February 17, 2025, Delta Air Lines Flight 4819, operated by Endeavor Air, crash-landed at Toronto Pearson International Airport, flipping upside down upon landing. The flight, originating from Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, was carrying 76 passengers and 4 crew members. Miraculously, all 80 individuals on board survived the incident.

Eighteen people sustained injuries, with three initially reported as critical, including a child, a man in his sixties, and a woman in her forties. However, authorities later confirmed that none of the injuries were life-threatening. All injured passengers were promptly transported to local hospitals.

 The crash occurred amid challenging weather conditions, including strong winds and drifting snow. Despite these conditions, the runway was reported as dry, and there were no crosswind conditions at the time of landing. The exact cause of the crash is under investigation, with both U.S. and Canadian transportation authorities collaborating on the inquiry. Emergency response teams, including fire engines, paramedics, and police, were quick to arrive at the scene, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew. 

The incident led to the temporary closure of two runways at Toronto Pearson International Airport, causing delays and cancellations for several flights. Operations have since resumed, with ongoing support provided to the affected passengers.  This incident follows a series of recent aviation accidents in North America, including a midair collision near Washington, D.C., that resulted in 67 fatalities.
